Reset Your Android Upload Key When Switching to Evlop

If your Android app is already published on the Google Play Store under a different developer, and you now want to publish updates through Evlop, you'll need to reset your app's upload key so it matches Evlop's signature.

This guide walks you through requesting that reset and publishing your first update from Evlop.

Step 1: Connect Your Android Developer Account

Before you can publish through Evlop, your Android developer account must be connected.

Make sure this is done before continuing.

Step 2: Select Your App in the Play Console

  1. Go to the Google Play Console and log in.
  2. Click on the app you want to update.

Step 3: Request an Upload Key Reset

  1. Click Protected with play option from the left side menu.
  • Navigate to the Play Store protection section
  • And, Expand the dropdown
  • Click Manage Play app signing
  • Scroll down and navigate to the Upload key certificate section.
  • Click Request upload key reset

Step 4: Upload the Key File and Submit

  1. Download Evlop's key file: ⬇ Download (playstore_upload_certificate.pem)
  2. Check I lost my upload key.
  3. Upload the key file you just downloaded.
  4. Click Request to submit the reset form.

⏱️ Google will review your request — this usually takes 48 hours (2 business days). You'll get email updates from Google, and a final notice once your new upload key is ready to use.

Step 5: Copy Your App's Package Name

  1. Go back to the Google Play Console.
  2. Click on your app.
  3. Copy the Android Package Name

Step 6: Add the Package Name to Evlop

  1. Go to your Evlop mobile app' Shopify dashboard.
  2. Go to the App Publishing page.
  3. Click Build settings
  4. Paste the Package Name into the Android Package Name field.
  5. Save your changes.

Step 7: Submit Your App Update

  1. Go to App Publishing.
  2. Click the Android app dropdown.
  3. Click Build and upload to Play Store.

Your app will build (typically ~45 minutes) and then enter Google Play review. Once approved, the update becomes available to users.
